Words of Wisdom

Now I know this is about acting, but I use it to think about life. I don't want to be known for one thing, and I want to make an impact in some way. I want to be a role model, a good citizen, and a good friend. I want my name to mean something special to someone long after I am gone. Who knows.

And so it begins...

So today came the realization I will not be going back to school this week, I am done. I need a job. Crap. So here is to searching Craigslist, the back of newspapers, and having to live off of nothing until I can find full time work. Why did I get a useless degree?

What I Read This Week

Title: Selling Scarlett (Love Inc. 1) by Ella James
Rating: 1 Star
From: Netgalley

Elizabeth DeVille doesn't belong at a party like this - one where the gowns cost more than her Camry and cigars run higher than her grad school utility bills. Dragged out of seclusion by her best friend Suri, Elizabeth is merely playing dress-up, rubbing elbows with a crowd that banished her troubled family years ago.

Hunter West is tired. Tired of parties, tired of pretending, and tired of trying to right a wrong that haunts him every day. Bourbon heir and professional poker player by day, by night Hunter is gambling with his life in a high-stakes game of crime and blackmail.

When Elizabeth stumbles into Hunter's den of vices, she's a light in the darkness, a flame in the void. And, just like everything he touches, Hunter mars her in a record time. To rectify the damage done, Elizabeth needs money she doesn't have, and she's come up with a foolproof way to get it.

Follow Elizabeth - code-named Scarlett - to the lush Nevada brothel where she'll auction her virginity and risk the only thing that's not for sale: her heart. The highest bidder is a familiar face, with wicked hands and the devil's mouth. And a secret so dark that it could cost her life.

My Thoughts: ...eerm... I don't have much to say about it. I didn't like it at all. Yea...

Title: Endless by Amanda Gray
Rating: 4 Star
From: Netgalley

Jenny Kramer knows she isn't normal. After all, not everybody can see the past lives of people around them.

When she befriends Ben Daulton, resident new boy, the pair stumble on an old music box with instructions for “mesmerization” and discover they may have more in common than they thought. Like a past life.

Using the instructions in the music box, Ben and Jenny share a dream that transports them to Romanov Russia and leads them to believe they have been there together before. But they weren't alone. Nikolai, the mysterious young man Jenny has been seeing in her own dreams was there, too. When Nikolai appears next door, Jenny is forced to acknowledge that he has travelled through time and space to find her. Doing so means he has defied the laws of time, and the Order, an ominous organization tasked with keeping people in the correct time, is determined to send him back.

While Ben, Jenny and Nikolai race against the clock - and the Order - Jenny and Nikolai discover a link that joins them in life - and beyond death.

My Thoughts: Wow, I really liked this book. I have always liked history, but had not been to interested in Russian history. This book has changed that a bit. I want to know more now. I loved the supernatural elements with this as well. The boys were both really awesome as male leading characters, and it all tied up nicely. I would love to see this as part of a series, though tied up it left itself open to future story telling. One of my favorite reads so far this year.

What I'm Watching

1. I finished season 2 of Girls.... I didn't like it. What the heck happened to this show? I am not sure if I am going to keep up with season 3... Let me know what you think down below.

(Yes I had to use a Darcy gif)

2. Mad Men.... I am almost done with season 1... I am loving this show! I am also loving the style of this show! I want to wear everything I see the ladies wearing! And Don Draper...

3. Mom and I started watching Breaking Bad together... she is still shocked by what she has seen and I'm like...

And finally Teen Wolf is back. 3B is already the most amazing thing this show has done. Lets just say I have a lot of feelings about this one. My mom came home to me a bit like this....

So that is what I have been watching. Let me know what you think or of anything you think I may like in the future.

Words of Wisdom

This is for a friend who always gets pushed behind the idea of being just another guy. There are good guys out there, (he is one of them). They just automatically get put into this grouping because in his case, he doesn't know how to break out of this.

Here is to hoping that he is able to. And to the future lucky girl, he is a good one!

A Little Bit of Life

Alright, so lets just get into it!

School... the never ending part of my life. I can't even relax in the idea that I am done with another part of my education and I have to think about certification classes...

I was asked to write about my time at University and I was going to... but then I realized I'm not done yet. I have to take more classes if I want the career I have been dreaming about since I was in the fourth grade! I was so close... yet so far right? Lucky for me I will not have to return to the University I just finished with, what I am looking for is a bit closer to home. But nothing is set in stone so I don't want to jinx anything. So before I really sit down to write that post I am going to talk about my dreams.

My number one goal is to become a writer, I would love to do it full time but the world revolves around money and stability... writing doesn't cut it. So I looked into other interests. Politics always interested me, not my own country's... its so boring. I love watching Parliaments from other countries! Its the best thing ever. If you are not american I want to hug you! Your parliaments are amazing! So I majored in Political Science, and I always wanted to be a teacher... middle school social studies it is!

I can remember skipping recess to help my old kindergarten teacher... I was an oddball...

But writing stories and helping kids learn their letters were my favorite things! So hopefully everything happens soon... Its all a part of growing up.

So to the lovely requester I promise I will post about my time at University. I just am waiting for everything to be finalized with them before I really get into it.

What I Read This Week!

Its that time again! So lets just get right to it!

Title: Ink (Paper Gods #1) by Amanda Sun
Rating: 3 Stars
From: Netgalley

On the heels of a family tragedy, the last thing Katie Greene wants to do is move halfway across the world. Stuck with her aunt in Shizuoka, Japan, Katie feels lost. Alone. She doesn’t know the language, she can barely hold a pair of chopsticks, and she can’t seem to get the hang of taking her shoes off whenever she enters a building.

Then there’s gorgeous but aloof Tomohiro, star of the school’s kendo team. How did he really get the scar on his arm? Katie isn’t prepared for the answer. But when she sees the things he draws start moving, there’s no denying the truth: Tomo has a connection to the ancient gods of Japan, and being near Katie is causing his abilities to spiral out of control. If the wrong people notice, they'll both be targets.

Katie never wanted to move to Japan—now she may not make it out of the country alive.

My Thoughts: Its an interesting story, it just didn't captivate me as much as some previously read books. I didn't hate it, it just didn't grab me. American girl in Japan, being the outcast, bad boy... it has it all. That's about all I have to say about it. I liked it!

Title: Untraceable (The Nature of Grace #1) by S.R. Johannes
Rating: 3 Stars
From: Netgalley

16-year-old Grace has lived in the Smokies all her life, patrolling with her forest ranger father who taught her about wildlife, tracking, and wilderness survival.

When her dad goes missing on a routine patrol, Grace refuses to believe he’s dead and fights the town authorities, tribal officials, and nature to find him.

One day, while out tracking clues, Grace is rescued from danger by Mo, a hot guy with an intoxicating accent and a secret. As her feelings between him and her ex-boyfriend get muddled, Grace travels deep into the wilderness to escape and find her father.

Along the way, Grace learns terrible secrets that sever relationships and lives. Soon she’s enmeshed in a web of conspiracy, deception, and murder. And it’s going to take a lot more than a compass and a motorcycle (named Lucifer) for this kick-butting heroine to save everything she loves.

My Thoughts: It is a bit of a slow start but this book is action packed. I didn't want to put it down once I really got into it. The reason I have it rated lower is the beginning, it wasn't until I was about half way through that I was really enjoying it.

Check it Out!

So if you don't know Just Nicolette is the second blog I have ever had, I started as a book blogger. And I miss it. I did a bunch of longer book reviews on this one, but they didn't fit as well with what I want this blog to be so I will be posting once a week like my last "What I Read" post. With that being said I miss really getting into my reviews... so I have started a companion book blog to this one just for that. The link is above if you want to check it out and I just posted it on bloglovin. Click on my profile and you will find it. For those who enjoy reading I hope you follow it! I will also link full reviews from that with each book on my What I Read posts if you want to know more. Just thought I would share. I have been a bit behind on this one because I was debating so long about doing this. I will be catching up on getting posts ready this week.

Another Note: My Weekly weigh ins will not be weigh ins right now. Just more about how I am dieting, and soon exercising. Our scale is freaking out... it said I was twenty pounds down like three times this week... I am so not. So until then....

I did cook this week but I forgot to take pictures so I will do it again next week and share with my second food challenge. I also have a few reviews in the works beauty related so those should be up soon.

If there are any other types of posts you would like to see let me know!

and if you made it to the bottom of this post *HUGS*

Love you lost!

A Little Bit of Life

Alright! So my super fun post today is all about my little girl Baby.

The reason I wanted to post this today is because I got to bring her home one year ago today! Happy Adoption day Booboo! Her name is Baby though I do call her multiple other names depending on her mood. She is my constant companion, she is currently looking over my shoulder at my hands as I am typing this.

She is the most vocal, lovable, and sweet little thing and I am so happy that I convinced my mom to let me get her. More like I stalked the shelters page and spammed the house with pictures of her, then had a meltdown when she disappeared from the website and blaming my mom for her death. (She wasn't on death row, just had a cold.) But yea, we adopted her in December and she was still sick. So we got the call saying that she got the all clear from the vet and we brought her home just one year ago.

That first night was a doozy, she was scared of the heater. So she spent the night hiding under my moms bed... She has come a long way from that first night. I am so happy to have her.

What I Read This Week!

Lets just get to the list!

Title: The Elite by Kiera Cass
Rating: 5 Stars
From: Library

Thirty-five girls came to the palace to compete in the Selection. All but six have been sent home. And only one will get to marry Prince Maxon and be crowned princess of Illea.

America still isn’t sure where her heart lies. When she’s with Maxon, she’s swept up in their new and breathless romance, and can’t dream of being with anyone else. But whenever she sees Aspen standing guard around the palace, and is overcome with memories of the life they planned to share. With the group narrowed down to the Elite, the other girls are even more determined to win Maxon over—and time is running out for America to decide.

Just when America is sure she’s made her choice, a devastating loss makes her question everything again. And while she’s struggling to imagine her future, the violent rebels that are determined to overthrow the monarchy are growing stronger and their plans could destroy her chance at any kind of happy ending.

My Thoughts: I love this series, though I was a bit disappointed that some of my questions weren't answered. But we have one more book to go. Overall this was an amazing read. I read it in one day... does that tell you anything?

Title: Cress by Marissa Meyer (1st Chapter Teaser)
Rating: 5 Stars
From: Netgalley

In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker—unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.

My Thoughts: I wanted the rest of the book. One thing about these novels is you are dropped right into the action, and it makes for an amazing read. I can't wait to get my hands on this when it is finally released in full. And I am loving the new character Cress. Yea.... another anticipated book of 2014.

Title: Sia by Josh Grayson
Rating: 3 Stars
From: Netgalley

When seventeen-year-old Sia wakes up on a park bench, she has no idea who or where she is. Yet after a week of being homeless, she’s reunited with her family. At school, she’s powerful and popular. At home, she’s wealthy beyond her dreams. But she quickly realizes her perfect life is a lie. Her family is falling apart and her friends are snobby, cruel and plastic. Worse yet, she discovers she was the cruelest one. Mortified by her past, she embarks on a journey of redemption and falls for Kyle, the “geek” she once tormented. Yet all the time she wonders if, when her memories return, she’ll become the bully she was before…and if she’ll lose Kyle.

My Thoughts: I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. It was a good quick read that was predictable. What I love about this book is the beautiful cover... that is a bit of a disconnect from the story. But it is beautiful. I didn't hate it. That's about all I have left to say...

And my final book I can not find on goodreads to share with you but it is an Emily Post Everyday Etiquette book. It was a stocking stuffer this year and I have been learning some new things. The major stuff was taught to me as a kid. That is it for this week.

Nothing new this year so far so...

Celebrity Crush

So with Teen Wolf starting again on Monday how could I not share the guy who made me want to watch the show...

Tyler Hoechlin (26)

This is an angry picture of him....

That is better.

If you are like me you would have seen this guy as a kid every week on Seventh Heaven. And it is amazing for any fan of him to see how he has developed as an actor. You can see him almost every week on Teen Wolf. He plays a really interesting character named Derek.

I had to share baby Hoechlin.
Anyway, he is an amazing actor and really amazing to the fans. Go ahead and check out some of his work. Including when he was tiny.

What I'm Watching...

Yes I am doing one of these again, but again I am changing up my formulation of this post.

1. Doctor Who: I have finished my binge watching on Netflix... and I was happy and sad that they have not updated in awhile. There are some moments I am happy I didn't have to watch again as I was curled up in bed crying after some moments...

2. Girls: I just discovered the beauty that is Girls. I finished the first season in a day, and have been taking my time with season two.

3. Mad Men: This is my next binge watch show... I have only watched two episodes and I am interested.

2014 Goals

So should I just get to it?

1. 365 Day Photo Challenge: I will be posting them all here on Mondays all together, or you can follow along on my instagram. Here.

2. 52 Week Food Challenge: I am going to attempt cooking something from scratch every week this year. I will share them all with you as well. Lets see how much I fail.

3. The Year of 100 Books: As that title says I am challenging myself to reading 100 books this year. That is about two books a week. We shall see.

4. Weekly Weigh In: The yearly goal is 50 pounds. That is just about 5 pounds a month. That will hopefully be doable.

5. Nicolette's Year of Writing: Now that classes are over I am challenging myself to writing 10,000 words a week. This number may change, but for now we will keep it on the lower side. I am just getting back into creative writing so we shall see!

6. The Year of Saving: Just as it sounds I am going to save up for a few pricier items on my wish list. $20 a week will end up being $1040 by the end of the year. Not enough for most of it, but it is a hefty amount.

7. Cleaning Out Everything: I am a bit of a hoarder. The cardigan I haven't worn in five years is still hanging in the closet. Those old flats... yeup, they are there. So I am going to tackle one part of my life each month.

That is it for my goals. If you want to share comment below or link below! Here's to 2014!
